I'm hoping the viewer will track with me here on the narrative intention of the treatment of the FRAME:
I intended a conceptual migration from bottom towards the top. The ornate/ decorative bottom part of the frame was a reference to 'established tradition/orthodoxy' of the art world. As the frame ascends, the ornamentation gives way to an awaiting 'white canvas', alluding to the blank unknown frontier awaiting the creative activity.
