--- (mixed media/collage, with dimension/high relief... kinship to the wood works).

This small group of works (along with "Pearl" and "Crack of Dawn" (wood works) are part of an ongoing
thematic exploration started in 2024... "dichotomy/division of 'perspectives' in our culture"

The use of eyeglasses as a core visual metaphor for ‘perception’ seemed an appropriate device as a point of entry into the narrative.

A short reflection:
Perhaps it was this past 2024 political year, amplifying the ever-present cultural tensions…
our differing world views facing off - center stage.  In an increasing technological world, however, we do have an escalating challenge in how
to come together… how to bracket our own personal perspectives in recognition of the fruits from collaboration and fellowship.

There is little we can do about the large cultural picture… but our cultural challenges start at home, quietly ...within our individual lives.
Each of us has an acquired ‘View’, a LENS through which we navigate (and usually preconceive) our world.
Our particular ‘lens’ is a composite of the cultural soil we grew up in,
with our aperture widening and the picture refocusing by life’s new experiences.
We are forever a little myopic, so good reason then to soften our conclusions…and avoid the folly (and hardening) of certitude.

I hope these images are more than just a staging of confrontation, but rather, suggest a seminal meeting… with a hint of “the possible”.
Things can often seem gray, the seas turbulent…but let’s choose to look for that light house that is always out there.
