Title: "Drum Roll" - 2014 Medium: Poplar wood, oils, gold leafing * SOLD
"Drum Roll" portrays modern man in a less developed light, ... fast peddling to stay atop the golden calf of our time.
The circular frame was an effort to suggest a global stage where a drama of sustained greed bears it's pressure upon
an ecosystem which cracks & swells under the weight.
In subtle encomium to Botticelli's "The Birth of Venus" the arched frame was likewise scalloped for a slight clamshell reference.
Whereas Botticelli's "Venus" is said to suggest the contemplation of divine love, I'd have to say my work considers a less virtuous love… of capital.
